Paul Mycock Of The Deltones

I have known Paul Mycock  from the first gig they did at St Martins Church Marple Bridge 1960 that was when Eddie the drummer joined them and the bass player, I met Paul through Clive Booth the original rhythm guitarist when they were practising at St Martins and the care taker came in and asked them if they would play that night the group that was booked cancelled it was a Sunday and Paul was a bit worried as it was the first time the drummer and bass player had joined them but after a bit of coaxing  they played and that was the start of the Deltones. very said news R.I.P Paul
I have some terrible news for all you local music lovers,
Paul Mycock of ‘the Deltones’ died on Wednesday morning.
There are lots of comments on their Facebook page – click
Paul was just a few years older than me, and I’ve known him over 50 years.
My first school band ‘the Bouncers’ were supporting ‘the Deltones’ in 1964
at Marple General Youth Club.
The Deltones were well established and well respected, and we were just learning to play.
I looked up to Paul, we all did, the stage was about 3feet high.
I reminded Paul of this gig when Past & Present were booked with the Deltones for a wedding
in May 2004, …. ’40 years ago we were on the same bill, and here we are again’
Bugger, got a tear in my eye !
